We are passionate about sport and have been living and breathing it for over four decades both personally and professionally. We believe that strong relationships with clients, partners, suppliers, vendors and volunteers are critical to creating successful events. We bring a high level of energy, professionalism, creativity and a sense of humour to the event planning process which is our secret formula for success.

The Team

Tim Garbutt – Managing Director

Tim has over 25 years sports marketing experience. His experience with hockey and golf events is impressive, both at the grassroots and professional level. On the world stage, Tim was the General Manager of the most successful World Junior Hockey Championship in history, the 2012 event that was held in Edmonton/Calgary. He also has extensive experience in running charitable events such as the Gordie Howe CARES Pro-Am (Calgary), and the Alzheimer’s Face Off Pro-Am (Edmonton) generating over $2.5 Million for Alzheimer’s each year. In addition, Tim has organized the 2019 Canucks Autism Network Pro-Am (Vancouver).

At the grassroots level, Tim has an expertise of creating community events that deliver against sponsor objectives, while at the same time providing value to local amateur sport organizations and incredible and unique experiences for young athletes. A perfect example of this is the ATB WHL Hockey Clinics, which have been running in Alberta for the past 10 years.

Tim’s organizational and leadership skills have made him a valuable asset for any event that he has worked on.

Darcy Enick – Business Development

Darcy has over 25 years sports marketing experience with 14 years specifically with the TELUS Event and Sponsorship team where she has worked in the Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto offices. She excels in project managing large scale events including a ten year stint running the TELUS Skins Game, six years as Tournament Director for PGA Tour Canada annual professional golf tournaments, project managing two IIHF World Junior Championships, five Grey Cup Festivals, and the World Figure Skating Championships to name a few.

Darcy has also had extensive experience leading and managing a national team of ten event marketing managers, managing multi-million dollar budgets and crossing a diverse number of sport, arts, cultural and multi-media events.

Leslie Gallacher, Power Play Event Consulting Inc. – Strategic Consultant & Operations

Leslie has an extensive amount of experience in the event planning industry and has a strong background in management and developing premier and signature events both in Canada and the United States. Leslie’s experience has been instrumental in a significant number of fundraising efforts, sporting events and corporate initiatives. With over 25 years experience in the industry, Leslie offers a solid foundation for providing event, destination and promotional management services.

Leslie has organized a variety of sporting events, to include NHL Heritage Classic games with the Montreal Canadiens and the Calgary Flames, NHL hockey schools, and the inaugural Alberta Hockey Summit. Leslie’s reputation continues to be found in her passion, integrity, attention to detail, creativity, and energetic drive. Leslie was recognized as one of Calgary’s Top 40 under 40 Entrepreneur Award (2002), and assisted in the writing of the academic curriculum for the Bow Valley College (Calgary) Event Management Program (2002).

Colin Lavender – Graphic Design & Operations

Over the course of 25+ years in Marketing and Communications, as a Graphic Designer and Creative Director, Colin has been fortunate enough to demonstrate his strong creative and technical skills working on projects with small start-ups to Fortune 500 brands. He has extensive experience overseeing the visual development and execution for large events across multi-platforms such as print, digital, and web.

Since 2016, Colin has been the Tournament Director of the Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada’s ATB Financial Classic, where he oversees operations as well as a volunteer base of over 300.

Colin especially enjoys the opportunities when he can merge his passions for creative design and sport, by producing supporting material for golf and hockey events.

David Lee Fay, MBA – Finance & Strategic Consultant

A marketing professional with strong communication and strategic skills developed through packaged goods training and enhanced through numerous sponsorship marketing assignments.

Having worked on behalf of corporations and sponsorship properties David has a complete understanding of what makes a successful partnership. David has been on both sides of contract negotiations and understands all the elements of the rights and benefits in a sponsorship agreement. In additional to working as a consultant, David teaches and has taught at Langara College and UBC. David completed an MBA at Royal Roads University in 2004.

Bobby Widdifield – Sales Associate

With a marketing background and over five years of event management experience, Bobby has quickly developed a reputation with a proven track record in sponsorship relations. His experience managing relationships and running events has provided him with the ability to appreciate the right opportunity for the right client. While managing a range of events for companies including Scotiabank and Broil King, he has been able to leverage his expertise to tangibly increase their exposure in target markets.

Bobby looks forward to working with clients to match their respective goals with revenue opportunities to form long-lasting successful partnerships within the sports marketing industry.
